Around here,
quince trees abound. When I was little, I remember my grandma (she lived in the south of England- nice climate for it) and mum doing things with quince, but I don't remember what they looked like. For a while, we thought the quince trees here were ugly pears, till Toby's teacher put us right. In French it's "coigne", and I tried my hand at making jelly.
Dem's da quince.
After boiling the chopped up fruit ALL day, I had to hang the resulting 'stuff' in a bag all night.
Then I had to boil and boil the juice till it looked like it would set.
The resulting jelly was the most beautiful colour of red, smelt heavenly and tasted scrumdidlyumptious. I highly recommend.

Quince makes a tasty jam. I was quite surprised... but get it on some nice bread with butter and yum yum.
